Join the beta
Modus Ordo isn’t open for accounts yet. Leave your email and we’ll write when the beta starts. The rest of this page says what the beta involves, so you can decide first.
What the beta involves
Here’s the plan. Before the beta starts, we’ll email you the details, and you choose then whether to go ahead. Nothing is recorded until you do, and you can leave whenever you like.
The beta at a glance
- Your account
- No name on it
- Recorded for training
- What the AI is asked and answers, and the plans it helps make
- Never recorded
- Your notes
- Personal details
- Taken out before anything is kept
- The AI
- Runs on your own key
- At the end
- Free AI credits
- Starts
- No date yet
An account with no name on it
You’ll be given a beta account that doesn’t carry your name, and what it records is kept apart from your email. That’s what we mean by anonymous. We’ll still know the email your invitation went to, because that’s how it reaches you.
What’s recorded, and what never is
To make the app’s AI better, the beta keeps a record of what the AI is asked and what it answers, and of the plans and calendar it helps you build. That’s what “recorded for training” means here: we use those records to test the AI, tune it and train it.
Your notes are never recorded, even when the AI reads them to help you. Names, contact details and anything else that could identify you are taken out before anything is kept. Taking them out automatically can miss things, so please don’t type anything private into the AI.
Your own AI key
Beta testers use their own AI key, as everyone will. The AI provider charges for what you use, and you set a monthly limit in the app. Most providers need the account holder to be 18 or over, so a parent or carer usually sets it up. How to get a key
Free credits at the end
When the beta ends, testers get free AI credits to use in the app, on us. We’ll say how much before the beta starts.
What’s recorded for training
| What | In the beta | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| What you ask the AI, and what it answers | Recorded | Names and contact details taken out first |
| Plans and calendar: blocks made, moved, done or skipped | Recorded | Shows how well the plans fit real weeks |
| What you do with the AI’s suggestions: accept, change or undo | Recorded | Shows which suggestions help |
| Your notes, Library pages and class notes | Never recorded | Even when the AI reads them to help you |
| Your name, email and school | Never recorded | Kept out of the records |
| Your AI key | Never recorded | Stored encrypted, and used only to run the AI for you |
The full list, and how long records are kept, will be on the beta’s own page before you start. It won’t grow without asking you.
Your email, and how to come off the list
The beta list
- Who’s asking
- Modus Ordo, run by Kshitij Mutyala. Kshitij.m.formal@gmail.com
- What we keep
- Your email, your answer to “What would you use most?” if you gave one, and when you joined. The server also looks at your connection’s address for a few minutes, to stop automated sign-ups; it isn’t stored with the list.
- Why
- Only to tell you about the beta: when it’s ready, and your invitation. No newsletters and no ads.
- Who can see it
- Only the person who runs Modus Ordo. It’s never sold or shared.
- Where it’s kept
- A database in Sydney, Australia, hosted by Supabase. This site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs. Beta emails will come from a Gmail address, so Google carries them, possibly outside Australia.
- How long
- Deleted automatically 12 months after you join, or sooner if you ask.
- If you’d rather not
- You don’t have to join. Without your email we can’t tell you when the beta starts, and the preview still works with no account.
- Coming off the list
- Email Kshitij.m.formal@gmail.com from the address you joined with, or reply to any beta email. It’s done within 5 working days. Ask the same way to see what we hold or to correct it.
- A complaint
- Email Kshitij.m.formal@gmail.com first. If you’re not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
For a parent or carer
Most people joining are 16 to 18. Joining the list shares only an email address, and the only emails it brings are about the beta.
If your student goes ahead with the beta later, it records some of what they do in the app, as described above, with names and contact details taken out. They’ll also need an AI key, which most providers only give to someone 18 or over. If they’re under 15, we’ll ask a parent or carer to agree before their beta account starts.
Questions are welcome: Kshitij.m.formal@gmail.com.
Questions
When does the beta start?
There’s no date yet. The app is still being built, and a small private test with friends comes first. Everyone on the list hears from us when the beta is ready.
Does joining cost anything?
No. Joining the list is free and doesn’t commit you to anything. In the beta itself, the AI runs on your own key, and the AI provider may charge for it.
Can I look around first?
Yes. The preview runs the app in your browser on a fictional student’s week. It needs no account and saves nothing.
I made an account before sign-in was switched off. What happens to it?
It’s still there, unchanged, but it can’t be used while sign-in is off. Email Kshitij.m.formal@gmail.com for a copy of it, or to have it deleted.
